DIY: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

DIY Laminate Floor Installation.

Alright, Spring we had BEAUTIFUL flooring installed in our kitchen. We opted with wide plank, dark wood laminate flooring and had it professionally installed (Haley’s Flooring & Interiors). It is SO pretty. Well, we ended up with a box of extra flooring, so we decided to put the extra flooring in the laundry room and just install it ourselves. Piece of cake.

Here is where the Good, the Bad & the Ugly come in.

The Good – we have lovely flooring in our laundry room, as well as a nifty cabinet for extra storage, and we saved money by installing it ourselves. Since we already had the flooring, it would pretty much be a free project. Who doesn’t love that?

The Bad – The cabinet was not part of the initial plan. The cabinet came into play with Plan B. Plan B means Plan A did not….um…work out.

The Ugly – We did not have enough of flooring. Yep. Calculating equations for rocket science and calculating square footage are very different. Let’s just leave it at that, shall we? 🙂

More this week on how we resolved this issue…without buying more flooring.
